We spent our first two days in Amman. We relaxed at Nael’s parent’s home, playing with the turtles in the gardens and watching the kids play. We made a day trip our first afternoon so the kids could ride horses and see an old fort. We also spent time walking around the neighborhood to see the local architecture and get a feel for the city (and get some exercise). These walks gave Maria and me a great opportunity to learn from Nael about the city, its people and architecture. Most of the buildings in Amman have the same exterior because of a law requiring that local stone be used for the outside of any building in Amman.
While the kids played, we spent time talking with the family and learning about the city and country. They were also patient in teaching us basic Arabic. Steve
